CrewCast WiFi is made by Friis Consult ApS in Denmark. This page says what personal data the app, the puck, the website and the shop handle, and why. The short version: the app has no account and sends nothing about you anywhere; the website has no cookies and no analytics; the shop collects what it takes to ship a parcel and issue an invoice.

The app

The CrewCast WiFi app runs on your iPhone or iPad without an account, a login or a sign-up. It does not use analytics, advertising identifiers or crash reporting services, and it does not collect your location.

Everything the app stores stays on your device: the sets you save (devices, channels and notes), the hold-peaks preference and the last page you were on. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is synced through a server of ours.

Wi-Fi scan data comes from the puck over Bluetooth. It describes the networks in the air around the puck: names, channels, signal strength. It is shown to you and merged over the last minute for the channel advice; it is not sent to us.

The one network request the app makes is to this website, to read the firmware manifest and, if you ask it to, download a firmware image for the puck. That request carries no identifier. Our web server logs it like any other request (see the website section).

Pairing with the puck goes through Apple's AccessorySetupKit. Apple's handling of Bluetooth pairing is described in Apple's privacy policy.

The puck

The puck listens to Wi-Fi beacons, which is what every Wi-Fi device does to find networks. It does not join networks, does not read traffic and has no internet connection of its own. It stores nothing but its own settings and firmware. Its serial number is shown in the app so you can tell two pucks apart and so support can match it to a purchase.

The website

wifi.crewcast.online sets no cookies and loads no analytics, fonts or scripts from third parties. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser identification) to run and secure the service; they are deleted after 14 days.

The shop

When you buy a puck, payment is handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. Stripe collects your card details directly; we never see your card number. Stripe's handling of your data is described in Stripe's privacy policy.

If you pre-order, Stripe saves your card so we can charge it when the puck ships, with your consent given at checkout; the saved card is deleted when the order is fulfilled or cancelled.

We receive from Stripe what we need to fulfil the order: your name, shipping address, e-mail address, the items and the amount. We use this to ship the parcel, send order and shipping confirmations, answer support questions about the order and handle returns. Your address is passed to the carrier to deliver the parcel.

Order and invoice records are kept for five years after the end of the financial year, as the Danish Bookkeeping Act requires. We do not use your e-mail address for marketing unless you ask us to.

Sign-ups, reservations and support

When you sign up on this site we store your e-mail address, the name if you gave one, what you asked for (contact, the TestFlight link, puck updates), the site you signed up on and the date and time you accepted the terms. The list lives in Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), which also sends the e-mails on our behalf and records which mails each address has received, so we do not send the same one twice. Brevo's handling of the data is described in Brevo's privacy policy. We write when something ships and when you asked to be contacted; every mail carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. A reservation by e-mail is kept the same way until we have written to you about a puck or you ask us to forget it. When you write to us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it takes to resolve the matter and for up to two years afterwards, so we can follow up on a repeated problem or a warranty case.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, and receive a copy of it. Write to us at the address below. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.
